My background and years of experience enable me to effectively offer a variety of
legal services to residents of Gastonia, NC and surrounding areas.

My name is J. Boyce Garland, Jr. and I have been in the practice of law in Gastonia, North Carolina since 1987. I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina, where I received a B.A. in English in 1982. I then went on to receive my Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Campbell University School of Law in 1987.

I entered the practice of law in 1987 and worked as Assistant District Attorney for Gaston County until the end of 1989, trying criminal misdemeanor and felony probable cause hearings. I then entered private practice in 1990 with the law firm of Garland and Drum, P.A. and focused on real estate and contract litigation. From there, I went on to work with Nicholas Street, Attorney at Law and had a civil and criminal law practice with a heavy emphasis in plaintiffs’ personal injury work. After leaving that practice in December 1994, I worked with a few other law firms while continuing my focus on a civil trial practice.

After I came up short in a run for a District Court judgeship in November 2004, I started my own law practice of J. Boyce Garland, Jr., Attorney at Law.

I have continued to work in the areas of real estate law, estate administration, personal injury law, and criminal law and have certainly enjoyed my practice in these fields of law very much.
